Producers were planning to do a G.I. Joe film but adapted the Transformers movie franchise instead. That was a few years back. And Transformers already hit the theaters and racked big bucks.... Now, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, is set to open in cinemas on August 7, 2009.
An elite military unit comprised of special operatives known as G.I. Joe, operating out of The Pit, fights the notorious corrupt arms dealer Destro and the mysterious evil Cobra organization. From the Egyptian desert to deep below the polar ice caps, the elite team uses the latest in next-generation spy and military equipment to prevent this organization from creating chaos around the globe.
