Also known as Public Enemies: America's Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-34, the story is about how the notorious John Dillinger and his gang of the booming crime wave in the 1930s outrun the FBI. His charm and daring jailbreaks endear him to the public who also show dislike to the banks that cause Depression in the country. He is later joined by Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd. The Feds has sent in Melvin Purvis, the dashing "Clark Gable of the FBI" to try to outwit the gang. But only after they have recruited Western ex-lawmen and orchestrated betrayals (from the infamous "Lady in Red" to the Chicago crime boss Frank Nitti), do Purvis, the FBI and their new crew of gunfighters able to close in on Dillinger.
