Bill Murray and the rest of the gang reprised their roles in the 2nd Ghostbusters movie, released in 1989.
Five years after the battle with Gozer, the Ghostbusters faced lawsuits and court orders that restrained them from running after ghosts so they have to find other jobs. Ray ran an occult bookstore and performs at children's party with Winston. Egon conducted experiments at an institute. Dana, who broke up with Peter some time ago, married another guy and had a child. Peter was a host of a TV show called "The World of the Psychic". Then they discovered a river of ectoplasmic slime running beneath New York City... They came back into action as the Ghostbusters when a 16th-century tyrant named Vigo Von Homburg Deutschendorf came alive and wanted to take the body of Dana's baby. With the approval of the mayor of the city, the restraining order was lifted and so the Ghostbusters were once again on their original job and prevented the sinking of the city to hell.
